i genuinely hope these people get better. most of the time, it’s easy for kids like that to throw themselves into a movement and not really understand it. they’ll even gatekeep it with the most dumbass stupid rhetoric that excludes the people they think they’re defending. it takes a lot of privilege to judge people and how they interact with a movement. it takes a lot of privilege to gatekeep a culture that you aren’t very attached to. i genuinely hope these people that do it get better and mature. it doesn’t outright make them bad people, but as a former punk gatekeeper i know that it feels really comfortable to do so.
